Business Italian


CIC Intermedio

The CIC Intermediate exam certifies that the candidate has sufficient knowledge of Italian to be able to work and communicate within a company in an autonomous manner within the linmits of their normal working environment.

The linguistic skills required by a candidate for the CELI Impatto exam are based on level B1 of the Common European Framework for languages. See also ALTE level 2 for a description of typical work abilities at this level.

Italian learners at this level are able to deal with Italian clients and suppliers as secretaries or switchboard operators; are able to work in distribution giving simple technical instructions.

CIC Intermedio is divided in five parts:
  • Reading Comprension (45 minutes)
  • Writing (20 minutes)
  • Listening (30 minutes)
  • Speaking (15 minutes)
  • Grammar & Vocabulary (20 minutes)
Speaking
The candidate's ability to express him or herself and to interact in Italian is evaluated by two examiners. Questions of a personal and a non-personal nature are asked and candidates are expected to interact with the examiner using the support material which they are given 10 minutes before the test. This material is based on Business Italian but does not require any specfic technical knowledge.

CIC Avanzato

The CIC Advanced exam attests that candidates can operate autonomously within a company even in higher positions, maintaining constant contact with clients, suppliers or Italian partners, being able to interact in any given situation on any subject.

The linguistic skills required by a candidate for the CELI Impatto exam are based on level C1 of the Common European Framework for languages. See also ALTE level 4 for a description of typical work abilities at this level.

The CIC Avanzato exam utilises exercises and activities that are typical of those done by somebody working in an Italian speaking environment.

CIC Avanzato is divided in five parts:
  • Reading Comprension (60 minutes)
  • Writing (1 hour and 30 minutes)
  • Listening (30 minutes)
  • Speaking (15 minutes)
  • Grammar & Vocabulary (35 minutes)
