Over the C1/C2 range of courses, from C 1.1 to C 2.4, the focus is now very much on high-level fluency and precision of expression, as, for instance in formulating hypotheses or gauging others’ opinions, using the full range of discourse markers to indicate certainty/uncertainty, conviction/doubt, etc. In terms of writing, various text forms like reports, reviews, articles and proposals will be focused on. Reading comprehension will be based on longer, more complex texts. Listening comprehension will increasingly use authentic clips from the radio, TV, film excerpts or commercials to train understanding of the full range of regional accents and the various appropriate registers.
